Instructions for use of the VMR6-4CHAD
- This adapter is only for use with the VacuumMate Allweather intake analysing & synchronising tool.
- To fit the adapter onto the VacuumMate Allweather, first remove the 4 small screws securing the serial number to the base of the VacuumMate. Take care not to remove or lose the serial number plate.
- Use the four slightly longer screws delivered with the adapter to secure the white plate of the adapter to the 4 screw holes in the base of the VacuumMate from which you removed the 4 original screws in step 2. The VacuumMate should now be located between the side walls of the white plate.
- Detach the 2 original santoprene rubber tubes of the VacuumMate’s display deck just above the 4 columnar displays.
- Push these two rubber tubes securely onto the outlets of two of the four small taps of the adapter.
- Push the two rubber tubes supplied with the adapter securely onto the outlets of the other two small taps.
- You will now have two of the original tubes attached to the adapter tap outlets. Now place the VacuumMate with its mounted adapter on a large flat surface and extend all six tubes side by side so as to compare their overall lengths. It is probable that you will find that the tubes now attached to the adapter extend out further from the VacuumMate than the two original VacuumMate tubes still attached to channel 1 & 2.
- This being the case, use a good pair of scissors or carpet cutter to cut those tubes extending our further so that all tubes extend out equally far from the VacuumMate. This is IMPORTANT to avoid erroneous synchronisations.
- Push the open ends of the two short lengths of tube supplied already attached to the taps of the adapter onto the VacuumMate outlets of channels 3 & 4 [from which you removed the two original tubes in step 4 above).
- You are not ready to use the VacuumMate with its adapter.
- When synchronising a six cylinder engine with the adapter fitted, always connect the original tubes still attached to channel 1, to the leading or reference carburettor or throttle valve and the tube attached to channel 2, to the carburettor or throttle valve most directly linked to the leading carb or throttle valve. Connect the 4 tubes attached to the adapter to the other 4 carbs or throttle valves. If you find you need additional adapters in addition to the set delivered with the original VacuumMate, these are available on order from your regional distributor.
- The synchronising procedure is as follows : - first synch the leading carb & its partner, those to which the tubes of VacuumMate channels 1 & 2 are connected. Open taps 1 & 3 & close taps 2 & 4 of the adapter. Now synch the channels connected to taps 1 & 3 of the adapter to VacuumMate channels 1 & 2. Then open taps 2 & 4, close taps 1 & 3 of the adapter and synch the channels connected to taps 2 & 4 of the adapter to VacuumMate channels 1 & 2.
- If synchronising appears difficult to achieve, first check that all tubing connections are tight & correct any leaks. If synchronising is still difficult conduct a dynamic check, referring to the VacuumMate user manual.
- IMPORTANT : If you wish to remove the adapter and use the VacuumMate as a 4-channel device as originally delivered, it is essential to check, after removal of the adapter and reinstatement of the rubber tubes direct onto the 4 VacuumMate channel outlets, that all 4 tubes extend out equally far from the VacuumMate when placed on a flat surface. If not, use a cutter or good scissors to equalize. If necessary, replacement santoprene rubber tubes can be ordered.
AFTER ASSEMBLING THE ADAPTER, CUT OFF S REQUIRED TO ENSURE ALL TUBES EXTEND OUT EQUALLY FAR FROM THE VACUUMMATE. IF YOU LATER REMOVE THE ADAPTER AND RESTORE THE VACUUMMATE TO ITS ORIGINAL 4-CHANNEL FORMAT MAKE SURE THAT THE FOUR RESTORED TUBES AGAIN EXTEND OUT EQUALLY FROM THE VACUUMMATE.
